guidelight

Introducing the Guidelight Project– a career guidance initiative for teenagers. It starts with an online assessment, followed by some advice, then participation in career workshops.

 Career Guidance and Development for Teenagers:

We will be assisting kids from Form 3 to Form 6 with career guidance, assessments and career coaching.

 What is Guidelight?

It is a career guidance initiative that links a child’s personality and aptitude to various careers. It is not meant to tell them which job they will have in the future, but to show them what possibilities exist. It is for students from Form 3 to Form 6, and can be used to:

 1.                Assist in determining what subjects to select for CSEC, IGCSE and/or CAPE (for example);

2.                   Assist in determining options for further study (university, vocational training etc.)

3.                   Pointing the way to various careers

How is it done?

The student will be asked to complete an online assessment, with a number of questions geared towards identifying personality traits, as well as language and mathematical proficiency. A report is then generated, identifying personality characteristics, and various career tracts that are in alignment with them.

The student and the parents are asked to study the report, and will then have a conversation about the results with a trained facilitator. Together, a plan for development can be developed, focused on the child’s strengths, with special attention paid to areas for development.

The online assessment should take about 30 minutes to complete. The parent may sit with the student to complete it, however, they should complete it on their own, giving the answers relevant to them.
